Wish List Forum > Member Groups

Hi, we have over 50 members on our LP account, and they are in 5 different teams. It would be great to set up groups in LP to be able to filter time sheets by. Currently you get all 50 members or select just one.

Thanks,

Hi Katie,
We've got groups on the radar. This is a good place to use them. I'll send something into our workspace to track this. Thanks for the suggestion.

To extend this line of thought a bit, we are also looking for some group permissions to be applied at the "client" level. We have all our clients within one "super-cient" box so all the prioritization happens across all programs and not in order of the individual clients. This structure is replicated in other tools we use, box.net for file sharing, CRM tools, etc. We have viewing/edit permissions set in these tools by user groups (partner, PM/BD, team). Importantly, the partners have internal corporate tasks that need to be prioritized against all other tasks (direct work, etc), but these tasks don't need to be visible to everyone in the company.

It would be great if users could be assigned to groups, and groups applied to client boxes (view or no view) so partner corporate tasks (determine benefits structure) are invisible to users in "PM/BD" and "Team."

Can explain further if needed!

Hi David,
Thanks for letting us know how you would like to use groups. We do have plans to extend our access controls to allow for groups or roles, which should make it a little easier to configure access than the current user based configuration. Until then, you can still configure access on a per person basis.

I would also like to see a Member Groups feature. We have design centers in multiple countries. I would like to create a group with all the users from a design center and then assign an Event (such as a national holiday) to that group. Right now the only choices are individual or Everyone.

Now we are up to sixty plus users, it would make timesheet review much easier for the various departmental managers if team members could be allocated to a group/department and for the review list to then be filtered by group/department.

We also tend to analyse timesheet data on a per department basis so if the group identifier could be exported this would make the analysis easier.

Agreed. This is becoming more urgent as team sizes get bigger. I'll work with the engineering team to get the priority bumped up. It's already on the to-do list.

Thanks Kevin,
Charles.

This feature would greatly enhance our ability to manage our workspace as well.

Again, totally agree. I've started adding it by hand in Excel tools that I've been building off of LP export data for reporting purposes. The trick I've been doing is to export the ratesheet which has all the workspace members names (stripping off the IDs), and manually assigning teams/groups. You can do some cool things with pivot tables this way.

This support will not be in LP 3.0 but maybe a fast follower. TBD.
