As I’ve been using LP I gather more and more historical data about how long projects take. This information is very valuable when trying to estimate how long it will take to get some new (but similar) feature released. It would be nice if I could analyze that data in different ways. For example I was reviewing some past work done in different projects and wanted to know how much time was spent on several tasks that will be repeated on a future project. Some of these tasks where individual items, other were groups of task items.

It would be nice if I could multi-select the items I’m interested in and see total past work done by person for all the items I’ve selected.

I imagine that are many other creative ways that one might want to look at this data. Future work for a set of tasks that we might consider putting on hold is another example.

Maybe I can get this data from a timesheet export. I haven’t looked at timesheets much so I’m not sure if all the information I want will be in the exported data.

But even if I can export the data… I’d much rather do this all within one tool and that tool should be LP.

You probably won’t be surprised to learn that we have project in the planning stage to do a big upgrade on reporting and analysis tools. We’re gathering requirements so definitely appreciate these thoughts. Most of the changes we make at this point are at least customer inspired, if not out right customer driven so “keep ‘em coming”.

Charles.
