Wish List Forum > Team assignments
Hi Marjon,
We definitely want to get the concept of teams into LiquidPlanner in the future.
Do you intend on keeping the tasks on the team throughout execution, or after planning would you want to then divide up the tasks for each person? Would you want to manually assign tasks to people, or would you want LiquidPlanner to divvy up tasks to people as they are available? I'll talk to the other people in the office, and see if there are some other suggestions on how to model scrum teams.
We are trying to get a feel for how people want to model and manage teams in LiquidPlanner.

I'd certainly like to see both options. Often it would be great to have automatic suggestions for divvying up the tasks. If you always have to assign it all manually, you're forcing a higher level of granularity than may be necessary, and might as well just assign individual tasks. It'd also force a lot of manual rescheduling to properly capture the cases where a different team member took the initiative and got it done. But sometimes someone needs to come in and take ownership of a piece, or everyone needs to put in some minimum amount of time (e.g., to approve an item requiring consensus).

Allowing to assign to a team or group would be great. The one thing I would add though is I would like people to be able to be a member of multiple groups. This way you could say something like this task needs to be done by someone that is an Oracle developer or someone that knows the iPhone APIs. Then let LP give you a suggested assignment. Later when the work is actually taken on, the person that takes it can change the assignment and give it to themselves. But in the time before that, it allows some very powerful resource scheduling. This single feature would probably sell the system inside our company because there is *nothing* out there I know of that can support this type of workflow right now.

Dear LiquidPlanner,
Is there any news on this topic? You stated before it would be one of the features in a new release. Has this been assigned to a release yet?
Thanks!

Hi Marjon,
I think this is on our shortlist of scheduling improvements. I'm not sure which release it would go out in since we are in the planning stages for our next release or two.

Hi all ... to my point of view, it will be more simply to give us the ability to assign one task to multiple members.
because groups could be hard to manage when we work with a flexible team.
thanks in advance to consider this option.
Benjamin.

Take a look at our virtual teams feature; it might work for you.

Well, ok, i don't saw this features. It could be a help, but that's not exactly what i need.
If I organize a meeting (using "events") and i want to block the time of my team for one day (more or less), I think that the easiest way is to assign each member (or team ... remember the subject) to one event. So they are all informed about this event and we can collaborate about this event.
actually, i try to do it and the only way i found is to make one event for one member (outch ... did i miss somehting ?)
Thank you for your help (or advice).

Events have one little twist, you can assign them to "All"; you'll find that option on the owner picker. This is a stop gap until we add support for teams (groups of people).

I would like to be able to assign tasks to teams. We are doing Scrum, and in the planning phase tasks are assigned to teams. Of course I can use virtual members and adjust the daily capacity of those to reflect the team capacity, but with a team of more then 3 people, I run into problems, because LP doesn't allow more then 24 hours per day.
Ideally, I would like to be able to create teams, assign members to those, and either assign tasks to a team or to an individual, but teams only would help me a lot already.
Would this be possible?
Many thanks,
