Assign Categories to Projects
I’d like to be able to create categories for “type” of project (i.e., internal, external, blended and maintenance initiatives) as well as for vendors. For example:
For reporting purposes, I can then look at each “category” of project as opposed to category of workitem. In managing multiple types of projects with multiple vendors, it would be handy to do so. So, my question is this, is it possible to assign a category at the project level as well as the workitem level. |

@ecdunn – Hi, this is a great question. It’s an unfinished part of the program and you will be able to do this in a future update. There is a subtle yet useful effect of assigning a category to a project (and in the future, a project to a category) because that assignment determines the default for new items created in that container. Note, the direction we are likely to take is to update the way the category view works to automatically organize by project. In fact you won’t have to assign a category to a project specifically, any item in the project will pull the project into that category. Thanks for asking; we’d welcome any other thoughts you have. I agree with ecdunn. I’m approximating it now by using top-level projects as categories, but it’s really a hack at best. |
