Is there any way currently to print reports?

Thanks.

Great Product

Thanks! While we don’t currently have a way to print reports, we’re working on it (as well as more robust reporting options). Keep an eye on the forums for more information about when these and other great features will be deployed.

That’s really the only issue I’ve encountered thus far. I don’t have an easy way to share it with executives and managers without giving them access to everything (not going to happen).

@jwalsh – printing is still high priority for us. We develop and build incrementally and ship new features about every 6 weeks.Expect printing support to rollout in parts. We are assuming the highest priority right now is the ability to print the schedule because the estimates could be exported to a spreadsheet to get it on paper.

If anyone reading this post wants to add their wishlist and priorities for printing, please do. We are assuming the basic desire is to have PDF reports which are portable, sendable, and printable.

It would be nice, for each report configuration to be able to specify an email distribution list. The reports can be generated automatically and be delivered on a configurable periodic basis. The email address should not have to be associated with an LP account. This way I can send out reports daily or weekly to those who need/want to know but don’t need/want to learn the interface to LP.

Regards

Brad

@Charles – In lieu of of printing, do you have any Excel templates with which we could import the CSV into? That be a nice starting point, especially for those of us that aren’t intimate with your data model.

That’s a great idea. I don’t have anything ready to go. Do you dig Excel Pivot Tables? What version of Excel do you use?

No reporting is killing me. I’m struggling between making lame JPG screenshots and making lame XPS (browser print) files. Telling everyone to get an account is not an option. Using the XLS export is not an option. I’m stuck.

When will reporting be available?

We hear you loud and clear. We are starting to work on printing now; my estimate is July for the first rollout. How do you feel about getting everything in PDF format?

We are always hungry for requirements – tell us what you want.

Charles.

PDF would be great. Right now I use PDF995 to take a “print screen” and jam it into a PDF. Obvious drawbacks which we don’t need to enumerate but I limp along. Having some rudimentary report—> PDF would be much better. Right now the two views I use is a fully expanded category report (no tasks), and then a full listing of tasks (showing the category they belong to). As the tasks get more complete and linked, of course we’ll need the full repertoire of Gaants, etc.

Thanks for getting to this, and I look forward to the functionality :-)

Are we on track for being able to print reports starting in July 2008?

It has bubbled up to Adam’s top priority project. He finished up a bit early this sprint and has already started showing me prototypes that he has coded up. July is our target, but the uncertainty is still pretty wide.

One thing you might look at is using the FireFox 3 beta for printing LP. I noticed this weekend that it’s printing capabilities are pretty smart. It knows how to paginate LPs displays which is pretty impressive. You’ll want to play around with the scaling and turn off background graphics. In case you have not found it, the Actions menu has an “advanced” sub-menu, go there to customize the columns on the estimates tab.

@hreedwork: Great news! We’ve just released a printing feature which enables you to print your LiquidPlanner schedule. Read more about it and view a screen shot in our forum post on the topic.
