User Forum > Portals for Partial Project

Hi,

I would like to start using portals with some of our stakeholders. Specifically, we have one project that impacts many different stakeholders, and therefore, the whole portal would not achieve it's purpose. Is there a way to activate a portal a folder or a group of tasks only - not just at the project level?

Thanks for your help,

You can not open a Project Portal on a yellow sub-folder. A portal guest can be connected to multiple portals so you might break the project up into distinct LP Projects and use similar names to keep track of them. If you are not using Client objects, you can use one to organize the projects. Not a perfect solution but perhaps useful for this case.

Unfortunately, we are using client objects. Do/will portals have any access controls so managers can control what they see?

thanks for your help,

We are building Access Controls for workspace members (as opposed to portal guests) and will be releasing that soon. This will allow you to give 3rd party people access to specific Clients and Projects and within that they will have rights similar to full members. They will get the member experience including personalized dashboard, timesheet, plan tab, collaborate tab, etc.

The portal guest experience is meant to be very simple and cover basic collaboration scenarios. Could you provide more specifics on what you'd like to do with portals?

Ideally, I'd like to be able to set up a project portal and then delegate specific areas on a portal for specific clients. For example, if I have multiple stakeholders in a project and each stakeholder is a stakeholder for a different section, I'd like to set up an access control so they only see the items pertaining to their portion. Hope that helps...
