User Forum > Google Apps Integration

I've only just signed up, but it would be fantastic if this could integrate with Google Apps rather like Remember the milk does?

Sorry if someone has already posted this.

Hi Perry. This is on our product road map but not currently scheduled. Feel free to add any details about the level of integration you'd like to see in a good first release.

Best,
Charles.

If Liquid Planner published each user's scheduled tasks as a URL that generated a realtime iCal file then we could easily integrate with popular calendaring tools like Google Calendar (part of Google App). But the best part is that b/c the file is always generated realtime, the calendar never has to worry about syncronization issues as things change in liquid planner.

Matthew, I actually have something along those lines that I am finishing up for LiquidPlanner right now. I need to do some more work to make sure it behaves correctly, but I think it's entirely feasible.

Have you thought of using the google docs API and make docs available as attachments? Is that possible, we collab on google docs alot. Love to see a Wave like editing are built into collab area.

Now THAT would be cool!

Integrating with Google Apps is certainly interesting to us.

We are currently in evaluation mode, but in order to fully commit I think we need some sort of Google Apps integration as well, or at least knowing that you guys are going to go that route. I absolutely love the approach here, it's suiting me perfectly in just the few hours I've been using it.

Hi Michael,
What kind of integration would you be looking for with Google Apps?
What would you like to see?

June 17, 2010 | Registered CommenterAdam

To follow up on Michael's question. Please tell us what you have. It's obvious that if the question is "integration with Google Apps". You either have it or you don't.

To be specific.....

1. Single Sign On (SSO) with Google ID
2. Google Apps Email
3. Google Apps Calendar
4. Google Apps Contacts
5. Google Voice
6. Google Talk

We have a big investment in in Google Apps and we are looking at vendors that are doing the same. We've used BaseCamp and were very limited with open source integration. We tried Many Moon and the integration with Google Apps was a good start but the product falls short on functionality....Way short.

I just wanted to mention that having Google Apps integration would be an extremely useful addition.

I'd like to bump this thread. We're on Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite now but are probably switching to Google Apps. One of the chief reasons is all the cloud apps that integrate with GA.

In the couple months we've been using LiquidPlanner, it has become a centerpiece of how we run production. In the beginning we were elated with LP. Now, we are still very happy, but have ran into a few walls. Some of these have to do with issues that are on the roadmap, like multiple owners per task, resource availability/scheduling, and better time and cost tracking. The other has to do with duplication of efforts between LP and our other systems.

Here's how I see GA integration, in order of priority:
1. CALENDAR - Tasks show up in our GA calendar, and LP schedules around appointments in my calendar (rather than having to manually create "Events" with the "delay until" set, this would streamline things).
2. CHAT - Be able to associate a conversation in GA with a project & task, and have that history available in the chatter for that task somehow (I imagine as a single entry mentioning the conversation with an ability to click on through to the chat transcript). Maybe do something similar with VOICE.
3. EMAIL - Be able to send / receive emails that are tracked with the project & task in question, have these email histories show up in LP as part of chatter history as well.
4. DOCS - Instead of adding docs in LP, just use the GA Docs feature and be able to link/associate docs with a job.
5. CONTACTS - Be able to associate contacts with a project or task. I'm not real sure how this might work.

Hi Tyler,

Thanks for outlining how you would see LiquidPlanner integrating with Google Apps.

To your 3rd point, you actually can initiate tasks by sending email into LiquidPlanner. Further emails that cc Liquidplanner will be captured as comments. You can also send mail directly to various tasks, and the message will be attached as a comment, while the email attachments will show up as documents on the task. Here is some more information about email integration in LiquidPlanner.

all of these integration ideas are solid, but the one that still excites me the most is simply Seans earlier suggestion

"Have you thought of using the google docs API and make docs available as attachments?"

I keep all docs for a customer in one place in GD. If they have multiple projects, I end up with subfolders. How nice to just have the API show all these docs in the Portal.

Agreed. This would be the first feature we look at.

Any thoughts on how you like to see it managed/configured? On a per project basis perhaps?

C.
