Workspace Comments
Comments are a great way to communicate, especially if members of your team work remotely. You can use this feature to cut down on meeting time and move conversations out of email, where threads are easily lost and disconnected from the task work.
Adding and Viewing Comments
You can add or view comments for a specific plan item in any of these ways:
- To quickly toss a comment onto a plan item without leaving the schedule view, simply select the plan item and click the Collaborate command menu. Choose Add Comment and you'll get a pop-up that allows you to add your comment for that plan item.
- Select the plan item, then click the Details icon in the View Gallery. This will take you to that item's Details page, where you can add a comment and view the entire commenting history for that item. The details page also allows you to view and add detailed notes, links and attachments for that item.
- Select the plan item, then click the Comments icon in the View Gallery. This will show you the entire commenting history for that plan item. If you have selected a container (project, sub-folder or package), you'll see comments for the container itself, as well as comments for tasks within that container. Note that if you have any filters applied when viewing a container's Comments page, some comments may be filtered out. For instance, if you work with your Active Items filter on, the Comments page for a container will not show you any comments for tasks that have been marked done.
- If you want to add a comment at the same time that you are logging progress to a task, note that the comments box is also available to you right in the task edit pane and on your timesheet.
Commenting Tips
- Comments can include any rich-text content, including images.
- To address a comment to someone specific, use the @username format (e.g. @charles). If you're not sure of somebody's user name, just use the helpful members picker.
- To address multiple (but not all) workspace members, just list each person in the same @username format.
- To address all workspace members, choose @All from the members picker.
- If you have defined teams in your workspace, you can select the team from the members picker in order to address just the members of that team.
- When you reply to an existing comment, LiquidPlanner will automatically address your reply to the author of the original comment.
- You will get an email notification when somebody else adds a comment to a task that you own or watch. (Watch a task via the Collaborate command menu.) You won't be notified when comments are added to other tasks unless the comment was addressed specifically to you.
The Workspace Comment Stream
On the home page, you'll find workspace comments running down the center of the page. This is rollup of all discussion comments across all items in your workspace. It's a powerful way to communicate and gain awareness of what's going on across your workspace.

- Each comment includes a link to the plan item it's associated to. If you want to learn more about that item, just click the link to go to the Details page for that item, where you can read the history of all notes and discussions related to that item.
- Anybody can jump into the conversation by replying to an existing comment.
- Important note: brand new (vs. reply) comments posted via the box at the top of the home page won't be associated to any specific task or project. This means that they won't be visible anywhere other than the home page, and they will be visible to all restricted members.
- Addressing @All will notify workspace members who have email notification enabled, and all will see the comments here. Portal Guests will not see comments posted here, nor receive any notification.
- Use the "for me" option when you want to filter home page comments to the following: comments that were addressed specifically to you, comments related to any item that you own, and comments related to any item that you are watching.
