The LiquidPlanner filter tools are highlighted below:

Basics

Filtering your plan allows you to focus in on just the information you want to see.

You can filter along four different dimensions at once simply by clicking on the four filter buttons and picking different selections from the four menus:

  • Owners (members of your team)
  • Folders (a.k.a. Clients, Projects & Folders)
  • Prioritized Tasklists
  • Task state (things like Done, At Risk)

The filters are sticky so if you switch tabs, change organize/prioritize mode, or even shut down the browser and come back, the filters will still be set.

If you ever get lost, click the reset quick link and that will go back to the default filter where just done items are filtered out and the outline is collapsed.

Getting Tricky

The first obvious trick is the me quick link. Click this and it sets the owner filter to you. You probably want to expand all after you do this; you can right-click to get to that action quickly.

Ever want to look at two projects and only two projects are once? Multi-select items using Shift / Ctrl + click and then click on the zoom link. Zoom figures out the nearest parent container(s) and sets the right filters.

Create your own shared custom filters – each of the four filter menus now has a custom filter builder; for example:

You can use these to build and save shared filters. Note that for all filters but the task state filter, you can skip the name and then you’ll just get a temporary filter.

Shortcuts

Save the perfect view – the shortcut feature will allow you to save links back to any state you set up in LiquidPlanner. For example, if you are working on the documentation of a particular task with a particular filter set, create a short cut and then use the short cut menu to get right back to that spot tomorrow. Each workspace has its own set of shortcuts. The short cuts are smart about the custom filters so if somebody changes the people on “Alpha Team” and you have a short cut to that, your shortcut will be updated.
