Projects (Blue Folders)

A project is represented in LiquidPlanner as a blue folder.  Projects are created via the add menu in the Projects view, or via the right-click menu.   Projects can live at the root of the workspace or within a package.   You can't nest a project within another project.

You can prioritize entire projects by dragging and dropping the blue project folder into the desired priority position relative to other projects.

When you build out a project with tasks, the individual tasks get scheduled as you create them based on their list order.

Project features

  • You can associate a project to a Client via the project edit pane. (Double-click on the project to open the edit pane.) This allows you to view your projects grouped by Client in Portfolio mode. It also allows you to do project and timesheet analysis by Client.
  • You can open a portal for a project in order to share information with people outside of your workspace.
  • You can use timesheets and activities to track and analyze time spent on tasks within the project.
  • You can use our reports to analyze projects across various dimensions.

Sub-Folders (Gray Folders)

Sub-folders can be used to create project  sub-structure, e.g. for project phases.  Gray folders are created via the add menu in the Projects view, or via the right-click menu.

Gray folders can live within a project or within another gray folder; they can't live at the root of your workspace or independently within a package.  You can nest gray folders as deeply as necessary, but we think it's best practice to avoid deeply nested, complex structures.

In order to nest sub-folders, you need to drag and drop the intended sub-folder on top of the intended parent folder.
