Disconnecting Workspace Members
Workspace owners and co-owners can disconnect a member via settings > members & access control > member list. Just click the disconnect link in the 'action' column for that member. This person will no longer have access to your workspace.
Important points to be aware of:
- Before disconnecting a team member, you may want to reassign that person's active tasks to a different team member, or to a new virtual member. You can easily transfer the work via the departing member's profile page.
- If you disconnect a member without reassigning their tasks first, tasks owned by the disconnected member will now show that person's name in red in the Owner field. But you won't be able to filter down to just tasks "owned" by a disconnected member.
- Edit history (including timesheet entries) for disconnected members will be retained.
- If you don't have any inactive members in the workspace, disconnecting a paid member will free up the paid seat to be used by someone new that you invite into the workspace. If you don't intend to fill that paid seat, you can go to Settings > Billing Settings to reduce your seat count for the next billing cycle.
- If you have inactive members in your workspace, disconnecting a paid member will automatically transfer that paid seat to the inactive member who joined the workspace first. That means an inactive person now has access to your workspace. This is likely someone who was in your space during the trial period but did not continue on as a paid seat. If that's a problem, you should take this opportunity to disconnect all inactive members.
