LiquidPlanner founders, Charles Seybold and Jason Carlson, have put in plenty of time on corporate project teams. So much, in fact, that they both started to see patterns of inefficiency invading project plans, time and time again. It’s not that projects wouldn’t succeed, because they would. These self-proclaimed productivity nuts just knew they could be so much better.
They knew there had to be a more effective way to manage projects. They figured there must be a tool that could help teams collaborate more seamlessly to get projects done right, and done on time. And they were sure other highly competent teams were bogged down by what seemed like totally preventable inefficiencies. So they took it upon themselves to come up with a solution. In March of 2006, Charles and Jason quit their jobs to devote themselves to building an innovative new project management tool, what we know today as LiquidPlanner. Once the wheels were set in motion, there was no turning back. The concept took hold and quickly evolved; from the first brain flash to private beta was a mere 20 months. But they certainly didn’t do it alone. Even without the lure of chunky signing bonuses or, let’s face it, a proper conference room, they put together a lean team of big thinkers and doers from the former ranks of Amazon, Microsoft, Google, T-Mobile, and beyond. Bryan Wilkerson joined on as Director of Product Development, and the first official employee, in the fall of 2006 and Director of Rocket Science, Bruce Henry, and Director of Marketing, Liz Pearce, signed on shortly thereafter. Given our shared commitment to collaboration and pushing the envelope on innovation, it only made sense that we eat our own dog food. So once the product reached a functional phase of development, we began using LiquidPlanner to manage itself, so to speak, from enhancement tracking and bug reporting to all things marketing and PR. Looking back at all we’ve learned—and not just about LiquidPlanner—we can’t imagine it any other way. We’re not saying we’ve arrived at some perfect place. And we’re certainly not saying that we're done learning or improving our product. We’re simply saying how happy we are to share LiquidPlanner, and how great it was getting to this point. We hope you enjoy it. **************** LiquidPlanner is online project management software built on an innovative probabilistic scheduling system (patents pending).
