New York—September 17, 2008 (Booth #2, Long Tail Pavilion)—LiquidPlanner, the first online project management software that enables teams to capture and manage uncertainty, today announced the introduction of new features designed to help teams realize the benefits of social project management. While Web 2.0 applications have exploded in the consumer market, enterprise organizations are only beginning to take advantage of similar tools to improve their bottom line. With this in mind, LiquidPlanner has released new functionality with an eye on helping teams – whether they’re internal or distributed across the globe – collaborate with one another and make project planning and execution more efficient. LiquidPlanner will be demonstrating a host of new collaborative features at the Web 2.0 Expo in New York from September 17-19.

“The dynamics of our team are constantly in flux with contractors and remote employees contributing to various projects,” said Mark Snow, VP of Technical Development, IPexpert Training, Inc. “Collaboration isn’t an option, it’s a necessity. LiquidPlanner has fundamentally transformed the way our team members assign tasks, build their schedules and communicate with one another in a truly seamless manner.”

LiquidPlanner is the industry’s first online project management software to integrate a probabilistic scheduling engine inside a rich, collaborative framework. Some of the new features that come standard with LiquidPlanner include:

  • Improved Collaborative Scheduling – By estimating their time in ranged estimates rather than single point estimates, team members can build statistically-correct, collaborative schedules that are rooted in the collective intelligence of the entire project team;
  • Dynamic Watch Lists – Users now have a simple, proactive way to see what other team members are working on and measure their progress against the broader project plan. Any task can be starred and followed with automatic updates provided by email or via the personalized dashboard;
  • Interactive Dashboard – The LiquidPlanner dashboard not only provides users with all the critical information they need on a daily basis to manage tasks and schedules, but it also allows users to enter quick updates so they can stay focused on their work. The updated dashboard automatically prioritizes upcoming tasks, alerts users to pending action items, and generates a dynamic list of status notifications; and
  • Streamlined Planning Tab – A consolidated view of the schedule and task details tabs provides users with a unified, customizable view of the entire project plan. In addition, team members can now multi-task across multiple projects, but manage them within a single workspace.

“Project management is inherently a social activity. The software we use to manage projects must reflect this reality in order for teams to successfully deliver their projects on time and with the promised scope and quality,” said Charles Seybold, CEO and co-founder of LiquidPlanner. “The guiding principle of social project management is that project communication must move from a hierarchal, top-down model to a collaborative, bottoms-up approach. Because LiquidPlanner allows each team member to enter their time estimates in ranges, a critical dialog is created, and through this, a better paradigm for the entire project management process can be realized.”

LiquidPlanner is priced on a per/user basis ($35/month or $300/year) and offers a free, full-featured trial for 30 days. For a limited time, LiquidPlanner is also free for the first three members in each workspace.
