Liz Pearce

Chief Executive Officer

Liz Pearce is Chief Executive Officer at LiquidPlanner, the fast-growing Seattle-based maker of predictive project management technology. She is responsible for the company’s overall vision, strategic direction and growth. Liz is an entrepreneurial leader with more than 15 years of marketing, product management and technology leadership experience. She started her career at LiquidPlanner as Director of Marketing in 2007 before being named COO in 2011 and CEO in August of 2012.

Since taking over the CEO position, Liz has bootstrapped LiquidPlanner and grown the team from a handful of developers to a team of sixty five and growing. Liz is an active member of the Seattle startup and technology community and is passionate about mentoring and advocating for diversity in technology and leadership. She is a founding steering committee member of the ADA Developers Academy, a year-long training program for women transitioning into software development. In addition Liz serves on the board of the Technology Alliance, a Washington State technology-based business and research institution focused on technology education, research and entrepreneurship as well as the University of Washington Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship. Liz is a Code Fellows and 9 Mile Labs mentor, a member of the City of Seattle’s Digital Equity Action Committee and a frequent judge and speaker at University of Washington events. She received her M.A and B.A. from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Tom Murphy

Vice President of Customer Success

Tom leads all activities supporting the success of our customers with LiquidPlanner, including on-boarding, enablement and adoption, professional services and customer support. Tom has spent his entire career serving customers at both management consultant and enterprise software firms. He began his career at Accenture where he focused on CRM solutions, and has spent the past 10 years in various customer-facing leadership roles at prominent enterprise software companies, including Apptio, Mercury Interactive and Chef Software. Tom earned a Bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara University in Electrical Engineering.


Brett Bender

Vice President of Engineering

Brett owns LiquidPlanner’s core platform and services, including service and system architecture, site availability and performance, the scheduling engine and our web service API. Brett has been with LiquidPlanner since 2007. During this time, he’s migrated the company across major versions of Rails and Ubuntu, created our RESTful API, kept the site up 24x7x365, and occasionally pinched-hit as a BI Analyst and SQL ninja. His 15 years of manager and developer experience includes working for companies ranging from startups to Amazon, where he spent five years. Brett earned his degree in Computer Science and Psychology from Yale University. Outside of work, he enjoys long-distance cycling and raising his two boys.

Charles Seybold

Member, Board of Directors

lp-charles-seyboldCharles co-founded LiquidPlanner with a vision to transform online project management through innovation and improved design. Charles has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For more than 10 years, he was a front-line software engineer in various startups before he moved into program management at Microsoft and, later, into portfolio and executive management at Charles has been designing and building software tools in one form or another for more than three decades and is an active member of the Seattle startup community.

Jason Carlson

lp-charles-seyboldJason co-founded LiquidPlanner with Charles Seybold in March 2006. Jason began his software career at Microsoft working as a Test Lead, where he focused on performance and scalability of the MSN Expedia product. He then spent eight years at, first as a Software Test Manager and later as Director of Quality Management. Throughout his tenure, he was dedicated to ensuring the stability and scalability of Expedia’s world-class Internet travel platform. Jason has a Computer Science degree from Minnesota State University and is undeniably obsessed with maintaining a high standard of quality in every aspect of software development—from design and development to testing and customer support.

Steven Hamerslag

lp-steve-hamerslagSteven is a co-founder of TVC Capital with more than 34 years’ experience starting, growing and leading high-tech enterprises. His knowledge of enterprise technology solutions is further leveraged by his extensive sales, marketing and general management experience having started and acted as CEO of two publicly held companies. Prior to founding TVC Capital, Steven was President and CEO of J2 Global Communications, a provider of communication services and also founded MTI Technology, a provider of enterprise storage solutions. Steven serves on the board of directors of publicly held CorVel Corporation (NASDAQ: CRVL) as well as privately held Digital Map Products, Halo Business Intelligence, Inc., Mercent Corporation, Limeade, Inc. and Anametrix, Inc. Steven holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.

Barney Harford

lp-barney-harfordBarney served as CEO and board director of Orbitz Worldwide from 2009 to 2015. Orbitz Worldwide was acquired by Expedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: EXPE) in a $1.6B cash transaction in 2015. Barney previously served in a variety of roles at Expedia, Inc. including as President of Expedia Asia Pacific, leading the company’s entry into China, Japan and Australia. Prior to Expedia, Barney worked in the United Kingdom as a strategy consultant with The Kalchas Group. In addition to his service as a board director of LiquidPlanner, Barney serves as a board director of United Airlines, operator of the most comprehensive route network in the world, and as non-executive chairman of the board of directors of Lola, a chat-based travel planning service that offers customers personalized recommendations for hotels, flights and more. Barney also previously served as a board director of eLong, Crystal Orange Hotel Group (formerly Mandarin Hotel Holdings) and GlobalEnglish. Barney holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master of Arts in Natural Sciences from Clare College, Cambridge University.

Geoff Entress

lp-geoff-entressGeoff is an experienced entrepreneur and investor and currently a venture partner with Voyager Capital in Seattle. Previously, he was a venture partner with Madrona Venture Group, a Seattle venture capital firm; a securities lawyer with Seattle law firm Perkins Coie, and he has managed financial analysis and reporting groups at both Salomon Brothers in New York and The Prudential Home Mortgage Company in New Jersey. Jeff has also held positions at Jones Day, Mellon Bank, Priority Investment Management and Duquesne Capital Management. In addition, Geoff serves on the board of several privately-held companies. Geoff received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame; a master’s degree in Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon University; and a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School.

Bill Bryant

Advisory Board Member

lp-bill-bryantBill has had early and instrumental involvement in more than 20 leading software and Internet companies, serving in a variety of capacities, including founder, senior executive, investor and board member. He is a venture partner at Draper Fisher Jurvetson and is a former partner of Atlas Ventures, where he originated the company’s investment in Isilon Systems. Prior to Atlas, Bill co-founded Qpass and served as its CEO and chairman. He also co-founded and served as President of Netbot, which built Jango, the first comparison shopping agent for the Internet. Bill has consulted extensively for Microsoft, Real Networks, Getty Images and Corbis, and has helped a half dozen startups reach liquidity. He is a popular Northwest-area speaker on the topics of technology, venture capital, entrepreneurship and startups. Bill received a bachelor’s degree in European History, and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. Candidacy in Business Strategy, all from the University of Washington.

Steve McConnell

lp-steve-mcconnellSteve is CEO and Chief Software Engineer at Construx where he writes books and articles, teaches classes and oversees Construx’s software development practices. Steve is the author of: Software Estimation: Demystifying the Black Art (2006), Professional Software Development (2004), Code Complete (1993, 2004), Software Project Survival Guide (1998) and Rapid Development (1996). His first two books won Software Development magazine’s Jolt Excellence award for best programming books of the years they were published. Steve has worked in the desktop software industry since 1984 and has expertise in rapid development methodologies, project estimation, software construction practices and third-party contract management. In 1998, readers of Software Development magazine named Steve one of the three most influential people in the software industry along with Bill Gates and Linus Torvalds. Steve was Editor in Chief of IEEE Software magazine from 1998-2002.
