Q & A With Matt Griffin – LiquidPlanner’s New Online Marketing Manager

The LiquidPlanner offices got hit with a blast of energy and enthusiasm when Matt joined the marketing team. A big music and dance fan, we catch him shimmying at his stand-up desk to whatever’s on his headphones. In the meantime, he’s concocting email campaigns and more magic messaging. Read on to learn more about Matt’s rituals and mantra.

Title and description of what you do.

Online Marketing Manager – I’m responsible for developing, managing and optimizing all outbound customer communications. My goal is to create a user experience that is second to none by creating meaningful and relevant communications that drive user engagement throughout all customer stages.

How did you know that LiquidPlanner was the perfect fit for you?

I knew right after meeting with my current team members for the first time. Being a part of such a smart, energetic and motivated group of individuals was very important for me in my new work home.

How does your personality or style round out your team?

I have an extremely outgoing and transparent personality that fits very well with the marketing team. Also, being the only male [at the time] on the team helps to offer a different perspective on direction.

Do you have a ritual or routine to the start of your work day?

My only routine that is somewhat consistent is my pure hatred for my alarm clock – and a 5-Hour-Energy, preferably berry flavor.

How do you beat boredom?

Boredom at work? I don’t think that’s possible here. Boredom is a rare occurrence in my daily life as well, but if it happens, I embrace it and have no problem becoming a couch barnacle.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Boisterous, funny, genuine.

What do you appreciate the most in your co-workers?

Their willingness to help, in any situation. We all have one common goal and team work is what will bring that to fruition.

Your idea of happiness at work is:

Being among people who enjoy what they do.

If you could have any other job, what would it be?

Running a hostel abroad. I love meeting new people and hearing about their adventures.

A favorite vacation spot, and why?

Costa Rica. Amazing people, beaches, and the pura vida lifestyle just can’t be beat.

A favorite book:

Why Now is the Time to Crush It! by Gary Vaynerchuk

What’s your favorite lunch?

Cheeseburger with French fries.

Your personal work motto.

Work smarter, not harder.

What’s your strategy for Mondays?

Hit the ground running, bring lots of energy.

What music are you listening to these days?

Electronic Music – Pretty Lights, AC Slater, Justin Martin, Hot Since 82, Savoy, Disclosure, Griz, Deadmau5, etc.
