Duplicate Projects #

Duplicate project in Portfolio View

Duplicating a Project copies the project folder along with its Sub-Folders and Tasks, creating a new project right under the original one with “copy” in the name. Duplicating Projects is available in Portfolio and Package views. Hover over the item you want to copy, and then right-click or use the 3-dot menu. Duplicate multiple projects at a time by checking boxes next to the ones you want to copy.

The new project picks up the following information from the original:

Settings: color, description, rate sheet, data fields, notes
Scheduling: status, limits, target dates, ASAP
Assignments: status, schedule order, remaining estimate, tracking only, cost codes
Dashboards: widgets, filters, layout
Dependencies: items linked within the project are preserved

All of thee Members, Resources and Placeholders in the first project have the same assignments in the copy. Access settings are duplicated for organizations on the ULTIMATE Plan.

Logged Progress, Changes and the Project’s Successor dependencies are not duplicated.

Create Templates from existing Projects #

Turn a Project into a Template

Use existing Projects to Create Templates while in Portfolio View, Package View, Project View and on Project Grids. “Create Template” copies the Project and adds it to the TEMPLATES Collection. Add Template closes the modal and sends the new template to the bottom of the package you selected.

When a Project is turned into a Template, anything that was on hold or marked done is reset to the active state.

Project & Sub-folder status is Scheduled
Task status resets to the workspace default
Assignments become active with the remaining estimate restored

The new template picks up the following information from the original project:

Settings: color, description, rate sheet, data fields, notes
Scheduling: limits
Assignments: schedule order, remaining estimate, cost codes
Dashboards: widgets, filters, layout
Dependencies: items linked within the project are preserved

Logged Progress, ASAP Scheduling, Target Dates, Changes, Access Controls and the Project’s Successor dependencies are not carried over.
